Order books due to open for Waja successor
PETALING JAYA: For Proton watchers, tomorrow is a big day as the order books open for the Waja replacement model. It will also get a new badge name, said to be locally inspired.
Proton has indicated that the replacement model will be available in three variants: a 1.8-litre manual, a 1.8-litre Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT), and a 2.0-litre CVT.
All engines have aluminium blocks and are derived from Mitsubishi MIVEC engines with variable valve timing technology.
The replacement model, codenamed P390A, is based on the current Mitsubishi Lancer, with some restyling. Like all current-generation Proton models, the new car's suspension and handling will benefit from Lotus tuning.
Prices are estimated at RM80,000 for the 1.8-litre and around RM95,000 for the 2.0-litre variant.
The car will be open for bookings nationwide after tomorrow's soft launch with a deposit of RM1,000.
The new model will be launched at the KL International Motor Show, which runs from Dec 3-12.
